What is a Money Market? Money Market is a term for exchanges of money between banks and the U.S. Government. These exchanges of asset backed short-term loans provide funds to very stable companies, banks, and credit unions—and in return the lenders are paid a moderate interest rate. Given the stability of the institutions involved and the intrinsic value of assets, risk is minimized. Money Markets exist primarily to provide liquidity for our financial system and for our depositors.

Deposit Insurance. The NCUA — National Credit Union Administration — is an independent federal agency that guarantees member deposits up to $250,000. Any deposits over $250,000 are fully insured through MSIC. In other words, when you open a Money Market with Brotherhood Credit Union, we invest your money in regulated funds but, BCU, not you, takes the risk.
